Biography: Abraham was able to purchase his first 10-speed bike with the help of a friend. He was introduced to racing by a friend of the family. In 1999, Abraham began racing on a single speed bike and has developed into a tough and experienced rider. Before joining Team Rwanda, he was racing with a bike loaned to him by American Tim Schilling from project Spread.
He sees that his passion for cycling is his opportunity to provide for his family like he has never been able to before. The exposure to International and U.S. racing has opened his eyes to a different dimension of potential he can achieve, it has given him the motivation to succeed in both road and mountain bike racing.

Abraham is 29 years old and lives in Butare with his three children. Abraham has won the Tour of Rwanda four times. Recently, with the help of Team Rwanda, Abraham was able to purchase a house and is the first member of Team Rwanda to have running water and electricity. Abraham is currently raising his children alone due to the death of his mother and wife a year ago. Abraham has two nicknames: Punda and Penguin. Abraham’s interests include his children (Jean de Dieu, Petit, and Denise) and gospel and church music.
