Biography: Adrien is a strong rider with great endurance; he received his first bike from his Uncle Emmanuel. His first race was the Tour of Rwanda, where he finished 6th.
Adrien is 21 years old and was recently offered a pro contract with MTN in South Africa. He was born in Eastern Province and lives in Kigali near his mother (his father recently passed away). Six of Adrien’s brothers were killed in the genocide in 1994. Adrien was the winner of the Tour of Rwanda this year. Due to his success in 2008, he was invited to a training camp in South Africa for two months before the Continental Championships in Morocco. Adrien has also raised and trained one of the Junior riders, Godfrey Gahemba, who tragically passed away in December.
Recently, when asked if he had a girlfriend, Adrien replied, “My bike is my girlfriend.” Adrien has two nicknames: Manconsho and Drie-Drie. Adrien’s interests include bicycles, country music, and sports and his favorite movie is Spiderman, which is the only movie he has ever seen in a movie theater.
